Wash & Wear Guidelines

School wear is worn five days a week, approximately forty weeks a year. It takes lots of rough and tumble, and has many other uses (goal posts) apart from its prime use as clothing.

The following advice is offered with regards to care of your garments:

Always use a cool wash (follow label guidelines as to temperature).
Certain detergents can affect garments and there are special ones available to prolong the colour of clothing. Biological detergents will eventually lead to fading of certain garments.
Fabric conditioners are not recommended.
Wash the garment inside out, this will help to reduce and pilling and bobbling.
Pilling is just loose fibres coming to the surface and does not affect the life of the garment, however these bobbles or pills can be removed by hand or small battery operated machines are available for this purpose.
Tumble drying, once again is not recommended, however should you choose to use a tumble dryer it is best to choose a cool setting and remove the garments as soon as possible to reduce the need for ironing.
Knitwear should and does not need to be ironed, should you iron these garments you will most certainly get glazing (shiny surface) and may even have stretched garments. If ironing is necessary, always follow manufacturers recommendations and try to iron on the reverse, especially if the item is printed.
After washing, check that the name labels are still attached and if you have used an indelible pen, ensure that the name can still be seen.
